The man to the right is David Campbell and he doesn’t want you getting a discount on the bus! Ever been fined on public transport for riding on a Student Concession ticket even though you are a student? Think it’s a joke you’ve got to pay full fare to get downtown when your Aussie mates ride half price? So do we!
It’s not very often that Off Campus gets political but with all attention that International Education is getting from the media at the moment there’s never been a better time. Kick a government when it's down! While shonky education operators might not be bothering you right now, there is no doubt you're bothered every time you ride the bus because of the Travel Concession NSW Transports imposes on you.
Federal and State Governments are under pressure to make urgent changes to the way international students are treated in Australia and the transport concession exclusion is an issue that affects all Study Abroad students.
We’re not taking a unbiased approached to this issue, we think it’s sucks and we’ve started a Facebook group called International Students should get a Travel Concession on NSW Transport. That’s right, a Facebook group! Join the group and email the Minister for Transport and tell him you want your discount on buses, trains and ferries like every Australian student.
