You might not have heard of it but in Australia we have a place called The Snow. For most of the world snow is something that falls from the sky but here in Australia, snow is so rare that we refer to it as a geographic region, a place on the map.
The Australian Alps, although hardly alp worthy by European standards, is a stretch of the Great Dividing Range that runs from Canberra through to North Eastern Victoria. The Australian Alps are home to The Snow and it’s here that you can get your fix of snowboarding, skiing and any other alpine endeavours you might be missing while you’re down under.
The Ski Season runs June to September and despite the warm sunny weather we’re having in Sydney, down at The Snow they’re having a cracking season! Thredbo, Australia’s highest ski resort, reports that all lifts are open and there’s an average 122cm base of snow across the resort.
The Snow is a 6 hour bus ride from Sydney through some of the most beautiful high-country scenery in Australia and there’s a whole host of companies that offer weekly and weekend packages. Do a web search or check out MojoSnow for the best deals.
Go on! You know you want to ski Australia!
