Last Days - Closing Sunday 14 February
Smalltown's are pretty lonely and creepy the world over. But imagine when the empty void from small-town to small-town is a distance of several hundred or even thousands of kilometres. Welcome to Australia!
With one of the most urbanised populations jaxtaposed against one of the largest land masses, Australia is dotted with towns smaller than many city schools and unfathomable distances between.
Photographer Martin Mischkulnig and writer Tim Winton explore Australia's small towns in an exhibition called Smalltown showing at the Museum of Sydney until Sunday. Mischkulnig's images are raw and lonely and explore man's futile and temporary encroutchment on Australia's vast continent.
Be sure sure to take a friend because the loneliness and isolation captured in Smalltown is real!
