The Flat White

You might have noticed that Sydney-siders are a touch precious about their coffee. Just try suggesting that a Flat White is the same as Latte in a busy Sydney cafe and you'll start the kind of ruckus that'd make Spike Jones proud. So, what is the Flat White?

Wikipedia claims that the Flat White originated in New Zealand but like all things from across the Tasman, there'd be vigorous debate on the topic. The key to the Flat White is in the milk and the cup it's served in. The milk has to be textured not frothed, so the pour is almost as important as the steaming itself. Served in a flat tulip cup, the textured milk is folded over the espresso shot giving a Flat White a smooth consistency and almost equal mix of espresso and milk

The coffee culture is strong in Sydney, but really we're all just a bunch of Wankers!
